Enyimba FC Pays Tribute to Nigerian Legend Christian Chukwu

Enyimba FC, one of Nigeria’s Premier Football League giants, recently visited former Nigerian captain and coach Christian "Chairman" Chukwu at his residence in Trans Ekulu, Enugu. The visit, led by the club’s Sporting Director Ifeanyi Ekwueme on behalf of Chairman Nwankwo Kanu, was a gesture to honour Chukwu’s legacy and reaffirm his significance to the club and Nigerian football.

Ekwueme, who played under Chukwu’s guidance during his career, highlighted the strong bond between Chukwu and the Enyimba family. "He remains our ‘father’ and is always welcome in Aba," Ekwueme stated.

The delegation presented Chukwu with Enyimba souvenirs, including jerseys and caps, as well as Christmas gifts to celebrate the festive season. Chukwu, who famously captained the Green Eagles to their 1980 Africa Cup of Nations victory, expressed gratitude for the thoughtful visit and extended his best wishes to the club.

Chukwu, 73, will celebrate his 74th birthday on January 4, 2025, marking another milestone in a remarkable career that has left a lasting impact on Nigerian football.
